Course Selection Information - Fall 25 & Winter 26

New for Fall 2025 & Winter 2026

Course selection windows will open according to the windows outlined by the Office of Registrarial Services. Some changes have been made to course selection:

• At the time of course selection windows opening, students will be able to register for both Fall 2025 and Winter 2026!
• Waitlists will be available within WebAdvisor so that students do not have to continually monitor for space availability. Please note the following:
  • Students can join a waitlist if they meet the course requisites and restrictions.
  • Students can see their spot on the waitlist to monitor any waitlist movement.
  • Students can only place themselves on a waitlist for a course that they are not yet enroled in.
  • Students can add themselves to the waitlist for only one section of the same course.
  • Students can add themselves to sections capped at zero (0) - these spaces may later become available depending on course demand.
  • Students can add themselves to waitlists that go above their maximum credit limit. If space opens for them to register, they can drop another course before registering into the approved waitlisted course.
  • If a space opens up in a section and you're the next person on the waitlist, you'll receive an email at your uoguelph account, and you'll have until 11:59 p.m. EDT the next day to register for the class yourself on WebAdvisor. If you fail to register within the timeframe provided, you'll be dropped from the waitlist, and the seat will be offered to the next student on the list.

• Course waivers for prerequisite, corequisite, and instructor consent will have an updated process and more details will be shared soon.
• A registration deposit of $500 is due by June 15, 2025. Failure to pay the deposit will prevent course enrolment. Questions about this can be directed to Student Financial Services at accquest@uoguelph.ca.

Credit Overload Requests & Course Selection Support

Requests for Fall 2025 credit overloads (for students wishing to register for more than 2.75 credits) will only be considered for approval by the B.Sc. Academic Counselling Centre beginning on Friday, August 29, 2025, pending space availability. Please fill out the Credit Overload Request Form if you wish to be considered for a Fall 2025 credit overload.

Requests for Winter 26 credit overloads will be taken starting midway through the Fall semester and will be considered in late December. Winter 2026 credit overload requests can be submitted midway through the fall semester (request form not yet available).

If all sections of a required course are temporarily full when your Course Selection window first opens, please just continue to monitor WebAdvisor regularly. If all course selection windows have opened, and you are still unable to create a conflict-free schedule of your required Fall courses, please contact the B.Sc. Academic Counselling Centre.

Restrictions

When a student wishes to take a course that they are not (currently) eligible to take, it is usually the course instructor who determines whether the student will be permitted to enrol. Campus-wide contacts for students to consult can be found on the Undergraduate Course Waiver Contacts page.

Many 1000-level courses will be restricted to first-year students until 2:00pm on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. A detailed list of these and other Priority Access course restrictions is posted on the Registrar's Office website.

Course restrictions that are of particular interest to B.Sc. students are listed individually by course below.

Fall 2025 Course Restrictions for BIOC

BIOC 2580 - Restricted to students in the ABIO, BIOC, BIOD, BIOS, BIOM, BTOX, BPCH, CHEM, ENVB, FOOD, HK, MBG, MICR, NANS, NEUR, PLSC, WBC majors, along with BSCG, BAS, BASC.AHN, BBRM.FIM and BSES:ECOL:C programs. Students with a minor in FOOD or NANS may also register.

Fall 2025 Course Restrictions for BIOL

BIOC 3570 - Restricted to students registered in the BIOC and BPCH majors, and the BIOC minor.

BIOC 4050 - Restricted to students registered in BSCH.BIOC, BPCH, CHEM, MBG, MICR majors, as well as BIOC, BIOT and MICR minors (until July 23).

Fall 2025 Course Restrictions for BIOL

BIOL 1070 - Restricted to students registered in majors or programs that have it listed as a required course. The restriction includes B.Sc., BSES, BAS, BOH, BSCG, and BBRM.EM programs.

BIOL 1080 - Restricted to students registered in majors or programs that have it listed as a required course in the Fall semester. The restriction includes BIOM, HK, NANS, NEUR and the BOH & BENG.BIOE, BME degree programs (until July 23).

BIOL 1090 - Restricted to students in the B.Sc., BAS, BOH, BBRM.EQM, and BENG.BIOE, ENVE, WRE programs (until July 23).

Course Updates, Changes, Additions or Cancellations

BIOL 3650 Intro to Athletic Therapy is very applied in nature and will provide students with hands-on practical experience with the basic tools and assessments used by Athletic Therapists. This course will be offered during the Winter 2026 semester. 

Any interested students should complete this application form and email it directly to the course instructor Dave Wright (dwrigh11@uoguelph.ca) prior to applicant deadline of  Friday June 13, 2025. Successful applicants will be notified by email following the application deadline in order for you to plan your course selection appropriately. More information can be found here. 

HK 4340 Genomics: Exercise & Disease  Cancelled effective Fall 2025. Students interested in this topic can consider NUTR*4360 Current Issues in Nutrigenomics in the Winter 2026 semester.

HK 4070 Clinical Biomechanics - Cancelled effective Winter 2026. Some content from HK 4070 will be integrated into the Fall 2025 offering of HK 4610 Health and Injury Biomechanics for students interested in these topics. 

MBG 3050 Human Genetics - Will be moving from a Winter to Fall course. The next offering will be Fall 2026.

NUTR 4330 Applied Nutritional and Nutraceutical Sciences II - Starting Fall 2026 this course will be moved to the fall semester and will be a 1.00 credit course. NUTR 4330 will be offered in Winter 2026. For those students entering 3^rd year in the F25/W26 academic year we would recommend that you wait and select NUTR 4330 in the Fall of 2026 and consider taking a restricted elective or an elective in W26 in place of NUTR 4330. 

PBIO 4150 Cancelled, effective Winter 2026.

PBIO 4750 Cancelled for Winter 2026. Next offering will be Winter 2027.
