The Summer 2026 final exam schedule is now available on WebAdvisor. You can view your final exam schedule on the "Schedule" tab of the "Plan, Schedule, Register & Drop" page on WebAdvisor. Select the appropriate semester (Summer 2026). Exams are shown in the timetable in blue; however, this timetable represents a single week, and your final exams may be spread over multiple weeks. For complete exam details (displayed in a list format), click on the "Print" button above the timetable.

  • Courses with multiple exam locations will have "SEE CRSLNK" as the location on WebAdvisor, please refer to the course CourseLink site for room locations.
  • Online Exams will have "SEE ONLINE" as the location on WebAdvisor.

Please do not write a final exam or complete a final course requirement unless you are confident that you are fit and able to do so. Otherwise, only very limited options exist for academic consideration, none of which are guaranteed.

If you are unable to write a Summer 2026 final exam or complete a final assignment for medical, psychological, or compassionate reasons, please complete the B.Sc. and B.Math. Summer 2026 Deferred Assessment Request Form no later than five business days after the missed final exam or deadline.

Important Notes:

  • Supporting documentation will not be required for the Summer 2026 semester.

  • All Deferred Assessment Requests must be submitted using the instructions above and no later than five business days after the missed final exam or deadline.

Frequently asked Questions:

How will I know if my Deferred Assessment request has been approved?

Please know that all requests will be reviewed by the Academic Review Committee in late August of 2026.  If your request is in order (ie: there are circumstances beyond your control on the date in question), you should not anticipate problems with your request being approved.

Once grades are released on WebAdvisor, “INC” will initially appear instead of a grade for any course that a final exam/final assignment has not been completed. It will remain as "INC" until your request has been reviewed. After the Academic Review Committee has reviewed deferral requests, “DEF” will replace “INC” if the deferral has been granted. If you see the "DEF" posted instead of a numerical grade, your request has been approved.

If your request for a Deferred Assessment is not approved, the "INC" will be replaced with a final grade calculated using a grade of zero on the final exam or final assignment. Please contact the B. Math., B.O.H. and B.Sc. Academic Counselling Centre at bscdef@uoguelph.ca immediately for clarification or next steps.

How and when will I receive information about completing my Deferred Assessment?

If a Deferred Final Exam is granted, you will also receive an email to your U of G email account - from the Office of Registrarial Services - at least one week prior to the deferred exam period (usually sooner), to confirm and advise you to check the Deferred Exam Schedule for the day, time and location of the deferred exam. It is your responsibility to check your deferred exam schedule.

When a Deferred Condition is granted, you will receive an email to your U of G email account from the Office of Registrarial Services, with instructions to contact your Course Instructor to establish the terms of the Deferred Condition (ie: confirm work to be completed, method of submission, etc.).

What is the deadline for my Deferred Assessment to be completed?

Once approved by the Academic Review Committee, Deferred Final Exams will be written during the University's official deferred exam period in the Fall Semester (October 5 to 9, 2026 per the schedule of dates for F26 semester). It is the student’s responsibility to check their Deferred Exam Schedule

The Office of Registrarial Services will set the Deferred Exam Schedule with dates, times and locations when the exams will be completed, when the time comes.

A Deferred Condition must normally be completed by the end of the deferred examination schedule, which would be Friday, October 9, 2026.

I have submitted my Deferred Assessment request – what if I have applied to graduate in the following semester?

If you have applied to graduate in October of 2026, please note that graduation will be delayed unless you can make arrangements with the course instructor directly to complete the Deferred Final Exam or Deferred Condition and have it graded before the clearance for Fall 2026 graduation deadline (which is Friday, September 18, 2026 per the schedule of dates for F26 semester).

I still have questions, who can I ask?

Please contact your B.Sc. or B.Math. Academic Advisor immediately if you have questions about the process (bscdef@uoguelph.ca).

Please note that this process applies to B.Sc. and B.Math. students only. Students in other degree programs should contact the Academic Advisor from their degree for instructions.

Please read the following information carefully and completely as the below process applies to B.Sc. and B.Math. students only. Students in other degree programs should contact their Academic Advisor for instructions. To confirm your degree program, please refer to your My Progress page on WebAdvisor.

Winter 2026 Deferred Final Exams will be written June 8-12, 2026, per the Deferred Final Exam Schedule as set by the Office of Registrarial Services. All students who have been granted a deferred assessment will receive an email from orsexams@uoguelph.ca no later than Tuesday, May 26, 2026. If you do not receive an email by Wednesday, May 27, 2026, please contact your Academic Advisor immediately.

Please do not write a final exam or complete a final course requirement unless you are confident that you are fit and able to do so. Otherwise, only very limited options exist for academic consideration, none of which are guaranteed.

If you are unable to complete your deferred assessment as scheduled for documented medical, psychological, or compassionate reasons, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Complete the B.Sc. and B.Math. Winter 2026 Deferred Extension Request Form including a brief explanation of your circumstances, no later than five business days after the missed deferred deadline.
  2. Supply supporting documentation.
  3. Submit your completed request form and supporting documentation to bscdef@uoguelph.ca.

Important Notes:

  • You must use your UofG address (@uoguelph.ca) for your submission to be received for review. Please attach your completed form and supporting documentation in PDF format and not via OneDrive, as we often cannot access documents requiring access permissions.

  • Supporting documentation will be required for an extension to be approved.

  • All Deferred Extension Assessment Requests must be submitted no later than five business days after the missed deferred deadline.

  • A reminder that all Deferred Assessments from the Winter 2026 semester must be completed during the Summer 2026 semester, or future course registrations will be prevented.

  • Please note that there are only a limited number of extension dates available in early to mid-July of 2026.

  • A $200.00 administrative fee will be charged to your student account if you NOT attend your scheduled in-person deferred exam. All students scheduled to write an in-person deferred exam will receive a separate email with a survey link for each deferred exam from the Office of Registrarial Services. Please complete their survey at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled deferred exam if you are not planning to attend to avoid the $200.00 fee. If you have questions or are unsure, please contact ORS Exams directly at orsexams@uoguelph.ca.

    • If you are scheduled for more than one in-person deferred exam, please note that the fee will apply for each deferred exam that you do not attend.

    • Please note that notifying ORS Exams that you will NOT be attending an in-person deferred exam is a separate procedure to submitting a deferred extension request to your Academic Advising Office.

Frequently asked Questions:

What type of documentation needs to be submitted?

Documentation should be from a recognized health care provider such as Student Health Services, Counselling Services, family doctor, walk-in clinic, nurse, nurse practitioner, therapist, counsellor, naturopath, chiropractor, dentist, etc.

Requests based upon compassionate grounds also require documentation but will also depend on your individual circumstances.

Please contact your Academic Advisor immediately if you have questions or concerns.

I am no longer living in Guelph; can I write my in-person exam elsewhere?

Students who will be living more than 170 kilometers from the University of Guelph during the deferred examination session may apply to write their deferred exam at an academic institution (High School, College or University) within their own vicinity. Off-site Invigilator forms must be completed and signed by your invigilator.

All deferred exams are to be completed on the scheduled date of the on-site exam. If payment is required to cover the cost of invigilating the exam(s), it is the student’s responsibility to pay the invigilator directly.

Off-site Invigilator forms must be completed and submitted to orsexams@uoguelph.ca no later than May 29, 2026.  Otherwise, it will be assumed that students will be writing deferred examination(s) on the Guelph campus.

I am unable to view the course material on CourseLink. Would you be able to reinstate my access?

If you have been approved for a deferred assessment and are unable to view course material on CourseLink, please contact your course instructor as soon as possible so that they may reinstate your access.

Will the format of a deferred exam be the same as offered in-semester?

You should expect the format of a deferred exam to be the same format as was offered during the semester that you were enrolled in the course. If you are unsure or have questions, please first consult your course syllabus or contact your instructor directly.

I still have questions, who can I ask?

Please contact your Academic Advisor immediately if you have questions about the process.

Please note that this posted process applies to B.Sc. and B.Math. students only. Students in other degree programs should contact their Academic Advisor for instructions.
